Ron Ozer

Ron has extensive experience trading futures and commodities at two of the world’s premier buy side commodity market participants, Citadel and D. E. Shaw & Co.

Ron began his career at D. E. Shaw & Co. in 2008 in the equities/futures systematic trading business creating, improving, and executing for models. Only one year later, Ron was promoted to a portfolio manager role in the firm’s energy group, where his focus was on trading natural gas futures and options. In 2015, Ron was hired to Citadel as the head portfolio manager for US natural gas.

Ron graduated from MIT in 2008 after three years of study with a B.S. in Mathematics and a minor in Economics. He graduated with a GPA of 5.0/5.0, earning membership into the Phi Beta Kappa national honor society.

Xing Yuan

Xing Yuan has over a decade of trading experience in the commodity markets across preeminent sell side and buy side firms, Morgan Stanley and Balyasny Asset Management.

Xing joined Balyasny Asset Management’s Multi Strategy platform in 2016 as a standalone Portfolio Manager specializing in commodities. Leading a team of three, Xing quickly grew his capital allocation as a direct reflection of positive performance trading primarily cross-sectional futures and volatility relative value strategies. In addition to alpha generation, Xing played an active role in building out the risk and analytic infrastructure for Balyasny’s expansionary efforts in the commodity asset class.

Prior to Balyasny, Xing spent 8 years in Morgan Stanley’s Commodity Trading Division, where he ran the industry leading Commodity Index Trading business from 2012 onwards. While overseeing a global team of 7 traders and strategists, Xing consistently delivered proprietary P&L throughout changing market environments.

Xing graduated from MIT in 2008 with dual B.S. degrees in Mathematics and Management with concentration in Finance, as well as a minor in Economics. In 2015 Xing was recognized by Forbes with the “30 Under 30“ award with distinction in Finance

Terrence Brennan

Terrence has over 24 years of experience working in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Statar Capital, Terrence was most recently the Chief Operating Officer at Trajectoire Capital, an asset management firm headquartered in Geneva, from June 2016 to June 2018. 

Terrence had previously spent 18 years as the Chief Operating Officer for Cipher Investment Management, a Commodity Trading Advisor whose assets under management grew to over $500mm over his time there.  Terrence worked at Cipher from its inception in June 1994 until the firm closed in June 2012.  Terrence was responsible for all areas of day-to-day operations including risk management, performance reporting and compliance. In addition, Terrence directed the implementation of Cipher’s trading systems and helped oversee the portfolio which consisted of global commodity and financial futures, as well as interbank foreign exchange contracts.

Prior to joining Cipher, Terrence worked at the New York office of Metallgesellschaft Corporation, a metals conglomerate, from October 1991 to April 1994, performing back office operational duties for its Futures Trading Department.

Terrence graduated cum laude from Baruch College, earning a B.B.A. degree in Finance and Investments.

David Green

David has over nineteen years of experience trading US electricity and natural gas derivatives at hedge funds, investment banks, and electric utilities. David was hired to Citadel Investment Group in 2003 as an analyst for the then nascent energy commodity trading business, where he was promoted to run the US power business as the head Portfolio Manager and Director for US electricity due to his performance driving uncorrelated returns while managing the largest power book on the team. David worked for over 5 years with research, information technology, and meteorology groups in building out fundamental models, trading processes and data requirements to drive the growth of Citadel’s energy trading business into an elite buy-side platform.

David continued his career at Infinium Capital Management as a Senior Trader building a market-making business for power futures, and was a key member of the US natural gas swap and option market-making trading team. From there, David progressed to Citigroup as a Director for 5 years in a speculative trading role, where he was a key PnL driver and thought leader for the West and East Power businesses, before going on to run the NYMEX option desk for Citi. 

Most recently, David was the Director, Head of Trading and Origination for Xcel Energy’s proprietary wholesale markets business for 6 years, where he traded and managed a 16 person team deeply involved in US power and gas markets coast to coast, driving returns through speculative trading and structured origination transactions.

David graduated cum laude from Princeton University’s School of Engineering and Applied Science in 2003 with a B.S.E. in Operations Research and Financial Engineering, with Certificates in Finance and Engineering Management Systems.

 

Ilya Rudkevich

Ilya has over 12 years of experience working in energy trading at Citadel and Edison Mission Marketing and Trading. 

Ilya joined Citadel in 2014 as an analyst on the natural gas desk and was promoted to a portfolio manager role within 15 months with responsibility for a team of 5 analysts.  Ilya drove the build-out of several iterations of the fundamental analytics platform that guided all US gas trading decisions. He ultimately ran the 2nd largest book in the Citadel US financial gas business. 

Ilya began his career at Edison Mission Marketing and Trading where he was deeply involved in the origination of structured power deals, optimization of coal and wind assets, power congestion trading. Ilya was asked to develop a natural gas basis trading business which he built de novo into a strong uncorrelated profit center.

Ilya has an MS in computational biology from NYU and The Mount Sinai School of Medicine where he was funded by an NSF IGERT grant. He graduated from Brandeis University as a presidential scholar in 2004 with dual degrees in Mathematics and Biochemistry.

Steve Boneck

Steve Boneck is a power analyst with over 17 years of experience in the financial services industry. Steve joined Statar Capital from Xcel Energy, where he was the Manager of the Structuring Group for Xcel’s proprietary wholesale markets business. In that role, Steve managed a team responsible for deal valuation, trading analytics, and fundamental research across all US power markets. While at Xcel, Steve also originated and hedged structured risk transactions with merchant generators and incumbent utilities in the wholesale power market.

Prior to Xcel, Steve worked at The Blackstone Group on the Global Fund Finance team, where he was focused on liquid alternatives and special situations funds within the hedge fund business unit. Prior to Blackstone, Steve worked in various roles in the financial services industry in outsourced fund finance and as a business analyst.

Steve graduated with a B.A. degree in Economics from Pennsylvania State University.

 

Andrew Whyte

Andrew has over 13 years of experience working an expansive range of business functions across multiple industries.

Andrew began his career in 2007 at Harbert Management Corp ($3bn AUM) as a full-time research and trading assistant while in college. Upon graduation, Andrew worked as an emerging markets analyst reporting directly to the head PM and supporting the full trade lifecycle. In 2011, Andrew was hired to Jefferies Group where he reported directly to the COO and worked cross-functionally and externally to define, develop, and implement new business initiatives. Since 2015, Andrew has lead startups around the world as the founder or senior consultant in roles including finance, business development, and investor relations.

Andrew graduated from NYU Stern in 2008, earning a B.S. in Finance & International Business after three years of study.

Andy Vuong

Andy Vuong has over 17 years of experience in the financial industry within Middle and Back Office. Prior to joining Statar Capital, Andy was a Senior Fund Accountant at BlackRock. Andy was responsible for NAV approval along with management and incentives fees calculation.

Prior to BlackRock, Andy spent time at AQR Capital, SS&C, Claren Road Asset Management, Appaloosa, and Safra National Bank (Alpha Investment Management). His functions within these firms had a heavy emphasis on day-to-day operational duties, valuation, supporting ad hoc requests, projects, month-end NAV process and year-end audit.

Andy graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration & Management from Pace University.
